Hit Fox show Glee welcomes back its’ cast for their fifth season, opening on Rachel audition on a Broadway stage for the lead role in Funny Girl. After she launches into her own rendition of “Yesterday” before we return to Ohio and the New Directions choir room for Mr. Schuester’s assignment for the next two weeks, the Beatles.

Titled “Love Love Love”, the season opener regroups the characters returning where they left off, reaffirming their relationships and dreams, in the case of Rachel and Kurt. The full list of early Beatles songs continues with “Drive My Car”, “Got to Get You into My Life”, “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away”, “Help!”, “A Hard Day’s Night”, “I Saw Her Standing There”, “All You Need Is Love”. Blaine announces he’s going to propose to Kurt, and during his speech to New Directions he makes a dig at the sad state in Russia for gay rights. Not to spoil the episode, but the ending is beautiful, sappy and may cause tears.

“Love Love Love” also guest starred Peter Facinelli (yes, Dr. Cullen from Twilight) as the Funny Girl director and Ioan Gruffudd (Welsh actor known for Fantastic Four, who read opposite Rachel during her Funny Girl audition.
