Homophobic tweets in response to Tom Daley coming out

Give it a few hours and the internet shows us the worst of humanity. Following today’s news from Tom Daley that he’s dating a man, many good people responded on Twitter with support and kind words. Many on the other hand had worse things to say.

We, like a lot of sites, have gathered a sampling of some tweets. Amazingly when we started gathering these tweets, we should have been taking screenshots because half the homophobic tweets have been deleted by their owners. When we say it takes courage to come out, this is real proof that it’s very true. Imagine all the school bullies we’ve faced, all with a voice. Let’s hope Tom doesn’t hear any of these vile words.
