British diver Tom Daley comes out and reveals his relationship with a man
A few months ago British Olympic diver Tom Daley, a heart-throb to many a gay man, came out as straight. However today Daley has revealed on YouTube that “In spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great. That someone is a guy.”
Got something I need to say…not been an easy decision to make, hope you can support me! 🙂 http://t.co/oOrDEiChGd

Daley explained that the relationship took him by surprise, adding that he’d always thought something like it could happen. “But it wasn’t until spring this year that something just clicked. It felt right and I thought ‘OK’. And my whole world changed then and there.”
But the 19-year-old insisted that “of course I still fancy girls but right now I’m dating a guy and I couldn’t be happier.” So for the time being Daley is happy and that’s great, no need to label it.
The response on Twitter was immedidate, with UK Amateur Swimming Association chair Edward Lord tweeting “We must support @TomDaley1994 in his decision to come out.” A message that does sound a bit unfriendly.
Gay rights group Stonewall tweeted their support and shared the YouTube video, and they also called for Adidas to make an early announcement of renewing the diver’s sponsorship.
Moving and inspiring video from @TomDaley1994. A role model for thousands of other young people: http://t.co/yYV9mO8zZe

We trust that today's brave news from @TomDaley1994 will cause @adidas to announce early renewal of his sponsorship

Additional Twitter praise came from former English footballer Gary Lineker.
Delighted that @TomDaley1994 is happy in his new relationship. Well done for sharing it. Good luck to them both.

Proof that the UK still has a long way to go, especially to help any footballers come out, he added an hour later…
They may be a small minority, but some of the homophobic bile on here is disgusting and pathetic. Grow up you morons!

Comedian Matt Lucas of course made a cute joke, as will many Brits.
I hereby declare today the inaugural I Still Like Girls Don't Worry But Yes I'm Also A Gay Day

Only earlier this year Daley had said he didn’t have time for a relationship just yet as he was “married to his trunks”.
Now, speaking ahead of his celebrity diving show Splash! Which he presented, Tom revealed: “I am not the kind of person who thinks a relationship is right for me at the moment. I would rather be single. If someone comes along who understands diving is first, then that could work but until that happens I am going to be single. I am married to my trunks.”
We here at Uberfag note that Tom Daley does not wear trunks, he wears speedos… very small low-hanging speedos.
This doesn't mean we shouldn't ridicule Tom Daley for taking part in the crime against humanity that is Splash!, by the way

One day coming out as gay or bi won't be news at all, but in the meantime, let's hope other sports stars show Tom Daley's courage

More to come…
