Matt Bomer, the hunky style-conscious star of White Collar, has recently come out of the closet and joining the handful of out gay actors in America. Don’t get too excited, Matt has a boyfriend and three children.
We’re big fans of White Collar, the adorable New York shot drama where Bomers character (Neal Caffrey) is a former con-artist released from prison early to help the FBI with, get this, white collar crimes. Neal Caffrey is wily, suave, charming and slowly learning to go straight. But thankfully Bomer is not. If you haven’t seen it, check out White Collar now (and we think now’s the time to support good television and actors brave enough to come out. Don’t expect Bomer’s character to suddenly come out, Caffrey is quite the ladies man, of course this just shows how good an actor he is.
Bomer will soon be on the big screen playing a gay journalist who contracts HIV in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming film adaptation of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart (see the book on amazon or on iTunes). Bomer came out when receiving the New Generation Arts & Activism Award for his work in the fight against the disease at the Desert AIDS Project’s Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards in Palm Springs.

More on White Collar…
One of television’s hottest shows, White Collar focuses on the most unlikely of partnerships between a con artist (Matt Bomer) and an FBI agent (Tim DeKay). The critically acclaimed drama returns for season three with more intrigue, more passion and more excitement! The series also stars Tiffani Thiessen, Willie Garson, Sharif Atkins and Marsha Thomason. Additionally, joining the cast as a series regular this season is Hilarie Burton (One Tree Hill), who guest starred in a sexy arc for several episodes in season two, as Neal Caffrey’s (Bomer) love interest, Sarah Ellis.
